Four training sessions for the ten coaches running futsal activities in Bora Bora, Rikitea, Takaroa, Tahaa and Moorea were led by the coach of France’s best young talents.
The selection of the ten coaches followed the impressive performances of their teams in the annual Festival des Iles, with each coach demonstrating qualities that will help their teams develop and in turn, elevate the level of the competition in 2016.
“The contents of these sessions are exactly the same as the contents we deliver on courses in France, all manners of education and how to teach,” Reynaud said.
“So the first step is to pass on the message of how to coach futsal. The second is to highlight the how to train a goalkeeper because it’s a role that requires specific training. Finally we look at tactics, and the phases of the game.”
The session on goalkeeper training was one the local coaches took great interest in, as for many it was their first time seeing a dedicated goalkeeper session, which was run by Thomas Bartolini, the France U-21 futsal goalkeeper coach.
Reynaud said it was a great pleasure for the group to be able to share their expertise with the futsal coaches of Tahiti.
“For us it’s fundamental, it’s part of the reason we’ve come here. As well as being a coach, I’m an instructor so it is part of what we’re doing here, but I also have a desire share and exchange knowledge and skills.
“The people across from us are already skilled and have their expertise, the objective is for us to share further details and information to enhance that knowledge that they already possess,” Reynaud concluded.
The Tahiti national futsal team, the Aito Arii, played France U-21 on 21 and 25 April at Stade Fautaua and Stade de Dragon respectively.
