Vulivuli has an impressive CV of regional and international appointments which includes officiating in three FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cups, the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011 and the 2012 London Olympics as well as a number of OFC competitions.
Closer to home Vulivuli has been building a profile as a proficient and fair official which has contributed to her earning this latest historic appointment.
When she signalled for the kick-off in the match between Ba and Lautoka at Govind Park, Vulivuli became the first female to officiate in the final of a major local men’s tournament.
Ahead of the match the young teacher said she was incredibly excited to be offered this opportunity.
Singh, who is also the Fiji FA referees chairman says Vulivuli deserved the appointment.
“Finau is one our top FIFA referees and she deserved to get an appointment in the final,” he said.
“She did a marvellous job and I think this should be an inspiration to other women referees that sport has no barriers. It doesn’t see race or gender.”
