Poida praised his squad for their tremendous performance and the performance of young goalkeeper goalkeeper Selonie Iaruel who was the saviour of Tafea on the day.
“Erakor is a good team and I’d rate our performance very highly. The team did very well and the first half was perfect in every respect, organisation, quality and intensity,” Poida says.
“In the second half we suffered a little but all credit goes to my goal keeper Selonie Iaruel who was so outstanding all throughout the game.”
“Selonie was man of the match in my view and all the fans fully agreed with me because he saved us ( Tafea FC) on several occasions.
“What satisfies me the most is the hunger these players put on to the field and the way they faced Erakor openly. We weren’t nervous or too respectful and that is how it should be for us to grow in the TVL Premier League and OFC Champions League.”
“We proved on the pitch that the difference in economic strength between the clubs was really not that visible.”
Poida went on to remark that although they only gained a point from the match, his team has gained a wealth of confidence and is looking forward to facing a strong Amicale side this weekend, in order to stay alive and fight for the second or third place on the ladder.
“We have absolutely made a step forward and are obliged to play well against Amicale this weekend.”
“We reached the VFF National Super League last season and we are still alive now, which is what counts. We need to continue playing with this intensity against anyone, including Amicale and Shepherds United to finish off 2013/2014 season.”
“After last year’s valuable experience, I am convinced that if we get through and qualify to play in the National Super League again.”
Tafea will face Amicale this Saturday 8 March 2014 at 3pm and thousands of fans will come to the stadium and watch the two Port Vila giant clubs battle for a place in the VFF National Super League 2014.
Tafea’s upset news for tomorrow’s match is their number young goalkeeper Selonie Iaruel is suspended for one match after two yellow cards with defender Jason Botleng.
