Sweden have now qualified for all seven editions of the FIFA Women’s World Cup. It previously finished second at USA 2003 as well as third at both China PR 1991 and Germany 2011.
Therese Sjogran scored early in the game and Lotta Schelin put the match out of reach with her 76th minute strike.
While the UEFA qualifiers for Canada 2015 continue through to 27 November, Europe has now confirmed seven of its eight spots, with England, France, Germany, Norway, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland all now qualified.
Escaping the group phase, four nations – Italy, Netherlands, Scotland and Ukraine – have advanced to a UEFA playoff with only one nation to survive the road to Canada 2015.
The games will be played between 25 October and 27 November.
Along with the seven European nations, Australia, China PR, Japan, Korea Republic, Thailand and host Canada are confirmed for next year’s finals.
Along with one more European country to qualify, two or three nations will qualify from South America and CONCACAF, three nations will qualify from Africa and one will qualify from Oceania.
The Oceania qualifiers, the OFC Women’s Nations Cup is scheduled for 25-29 October in Lae, Papua New Guinea.
