The men’s team dominated their league to secure back-to-back titles, eventually beating runners-up Titikaveka by four points.
They now turn their attention to the 2016 OFC Champions League Preliminary, which will be held in the Cook Islands from January 26-30.
The women’s competition went down to the final day, with Tupapa Maraerenga edging Nikao Sokattak on goal difference to defend their title.
Tupapa Maraerenga president John Wilson says the club’s achievements this year – which also saw them win the boy’s and girl’s U-14, and mixed U-11 championships – were very pleasing.
“It is great to have both the senior men and women win their championships and those players have made their club and families very proud,” Wilson says.
“We have seen all the hard work that goes into their trainings and it goes to show that the effort by the players and coaches pays off in the end.
“The main key to success this year has been having dedicated coaches and players who aim for the same goals.
“This is not the first time our club has won the senior men’s and women’s competitions in the same year, and I’m confident this will not be the last either.
“Not only have our senior teams been successful this year, but also our junior teams who won three titles of their own.”
The U-17 men’s competition was won by the Cook Islands Football Association U-15 Academy, while Matavera won the U-8 mixed competition.
