He will be assisted by Tavua coach Kamal Suwamy and Ravinesh Kumar from Ba.
Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) youth director Rajesh Patel believes Sahib’s credentials make him the perfect man for the job.
“We required an experienced person and Hussain is the best candidate,” Patel says.
“His experience as a national rep and coaching background will make him a fatherly figure for the players. He has been through the ups and down in football and knows what to expect.”
Sahib recently guided the national futsal side to a runners-up finish at the OFC Futsal Championship in Suva during August.
The highlight of his playing career was being part of the Fiji national team which beat Australia in 1977.
Patel says the team’s preparations for the OFC U-17 Championship will step up within the next few weeks.
“I believe we have selected a very strong squad. We have given time off to players as they have got their exams but once those are over they will be in camp full time.”
