Held at the Don Bosco Technological Institute in Port Moresby, two women are among 20 coaches receiving their certificate of participation last Friday at the closing of the OFC C-licence coaching course.
Susan Watpore and Edna Thomas, both of Bara Football Club in the Lae Football Association are attending the course to enhance their coaching skills.
The C-licence coaching course was being run in conjunction with the Papua New Guinea Football Association and National Soccer League board’s vision to equip coaches with relevant coaching qualifications.
Before the presentation of certificates, Didier Chambaron made aware to the coaches that this course is a FIFA Senior Coaching Course and the first part of the OFC C Licence coaching journey.
“The coaches will do coaching practice for six months in their own club context with the follow up by PNGFA then after the six months, there is an assessment (on demand) for those who meet the OFC C Licence criteria,” says Chambaron.
PNG Football Association General Secretary Dimirit Mileng closes the five days seminar and challenges the coaches to take-in what they have learnt and move up the ladder and not to remain on the same ladder.
And to achieve that lets work together as a team and our role as administrators, we have to work twice as hard to push people like you coaches to get to the next level,” Mileng said.
Coach of Madang FC Francis Moyap thank Chambaron on behalf of the coaches and said they have learnt a lot during the five days.
“We have never been organised but as the days went by your journey to Papua New Guinea has taught us to be more organise and now I can see organisation,” says Moyap.
He also thank PNG Football Association for organising the course and Don Bosco Technological Institute for providing the course venue.
