The 16 year-old striker follows in a long line of exciting Vanuatu talent like Suele Soromon, Jean Nako Naprapol and Francois Sakama and shows endless enthusiasm for the role he plays for his country at the OFC U-17 Championship.
‘I like playing striker because I like to score goals,’’ he says.
Worworbu proved how much he enjoys his job as striker during the first two games of the OFC U-17 Championship after he bagged a total of seven goals against American Samoa and Tonga.
And he jokingly admits he would have liked to score more goals in the first match against American Samoa but for one vital reason.
‘’I wish I had scored more goals in the first game but the duration of the game is not long enough to do so,’’ he says.
Worworbu was discovered by his coach Etienne Mermer while playing local football in Vanuatu.
‘’Etienne Mermer saw me playing and asked me to come and train at the Academy to be part of the Vanuatu U-17 squad,’’ he says.
The young striker feels a strong sense of patriotism and pride when he wears the famous yellow and black colours of Vanuatu.
‘’When I wear the national team jersey I feel great, every game is a new experience. When I play for my local club I play well but in the national team I play even better’’, he says.
Now Worworbu has experienced international football, he aims to turn his passion into a living and play for Vanuatu club side Amicale.
‘’I hope to play professionally and live my passion for football every day,” he says, “I would like to play for Amicale. I like the way they play. They are good team in the country and in Oceania,’’ he says.
Worworbu knows the clash against Solomon Islands is important for Vanuatu and it is going to be a difficult match against a team he rates highly.
‘’Solomon Islands are a very good team. They play fast and it is going to be a tough game,’’ he says.
Vanuatu take on Solomon Islands on Saturday 17 January at 3.3pm (local time) at Pago Park Soccer Stadium.
