Hienghene Sport midfielder Roy Kayara caught the same flight as Partodikromo bound for England with his father Sebastien Kayara confirming that the 23-year-old has secured a one-month trial with the second division club.
“He wants to concentrate on his football, he wants to try and launch his career over there,” the senior Kayara says.
“If everything goes well, he’s told us that he will stay over there.”
Kayara was a stand-out member of Les Cagous during both the 2012 OFC Nations Cup and the Stage 3 FIFA World Cup qualifiers which concluded for the New Caledonians in March 2013.
Then national coach Alain Moizan believes Kayara has the talent to do well as a professional and is hopeful he can secure a contract.
“I hope that those people who are looking after him have organised his trip well, and that he will have the opportunity to have several trials,” Moizan says.
“When a player leaves to have a trial, what’s important is to catch the scouts’ eyes right away. It would be great if they notice his qualities from the beginning, very quickly, because we don’t really pay attention to those who haven’t stood out.”
Moizan says Kayara has the skills to evolve in a second division French side because he is “very creative and very technical”. However having already tried his chances with Bastia and Bordeaux, Kayara is now attempting to break into the English game and only time will tell if he has been successful in that pursuit.
