Midfielder Riera was in one of the earlier groups to be announced and today Muscat was in the final group chosen.
Riera, who began his career downunder with OFC Champions Auckland City FC, registered his delight with his selection just last week.
“It is hard to believe,” Riera said on being told he would be playing against his hero Andrea Pirlo.
“Pirlo has always been one of my idols. I think I will follow him everywhere and try and get his shirt!
“Playing against West Ham United and Newcastle United is going to be exciting and after that is now Juventus.
“It is a great pre-season programme and should prepare us for a good A-League season.”
Now its the unassuming Muscat who was surprised to hear he had been selected.
“To be honest I couldn’t get my head around it when I was told,” Muscat said.
“I know that some fan voting was involved in choosing the team and I’m not exactly a fan favourite in Australia am I?
“I never thought for a minute that I would be picked, but it is fantastic and it is going to be great being a part of it.
“With the season we had it is good to have two players in the All Stars because a lot of our results could be put down to the many disruptions through injury we had.
“Perhaps it (the selection) is because I was pretty consistent despite playing in different positions week in week out.”
Phoenix coach Ernie Merrick was delighted to hear that Muscat had been chosen.
“I am really pleased for the boy,” Merrick said.
“He doesn’t say a lot, just gets on the with job he is given, and has proved very versatile which is good from a coach’s point of view when a team is hit by injuries and suspensions.”
The Foxtel All Stars play Serie A champions Juventus at ANZ Stadium on Sunday August 10.
