Chosson was welcomed at Bauerfield International Airport in Port Vila this week by VFF President and OFC Executive Committee member Lambert Maltock, who says the federation staff have been eagerly awaiting his arrival and hope he will have a positive impact on the standard of coaches in Vanuatu.
The former Olympique de Marseille scout has signed a five-month contract and will be with VFF until December of this year, during which time he will work closely with technical director Charles Vatu to draw up coaching programmes for the national academy and look at ways of running coaching courses throughout the country.
Bringing someone with Chosson’s nous and experience to Vanuatu is a coup for VFF and Maltock believes his presence over the coming months will be of great benefit to the coaching department.
Chosson has plenty of footballing knowledge to draw on, having worked in his native France for both the scouting and coaching departments at Marseille, a Ligue 1 club that is among the most successful in French football.
He says he is happy to be in Vanuatu and aims to do his best to raise the standard of the world game in the country.
As part of his new role, Chosson will assist the coaches of all national teams in their planning and preparation for international competitions.
He will be of use straight away in this area as the Vanuatu men’s team is currently gearing up for the Pacific Games, to be held in New Caledonia during August and September.
The youthful side has recently travelled to Solomon Islands and Fiji for a series of friendlies and will host the Solomon national team in two further friendly matches in Port Vila on July 27 and 30.
