Though the representation by provinces was disappointing, NGI Soccer Association General Secretary Maha Waname said the competition from those who attended was of a higher level than previously seen.
Waname said only East and West New Britain Provinces took part in the men’s tournament.
“Other provincial team cited financial constraints and their unavailability,” he said.

Seven team from West New Britain participated in the Under 17 tournament. Kumbango won the title with Kimbe One and Bula finishing second and third place.
In the Under 20 tournament, eight teams took part which included the Kokopo club from East New Britain.
The Bula club took out the Under 20’s title with Kimbe One in second place and Kumbango third.
Kumbango’s Mana Semi was named the player of the tournament and Golden Boot, while Tanasiu Poyel won the top individual award for the Under 17 competition.
Individual award winners for Under 20 were Bula’s Jacob Makei as Player of the Tournament Kimbe One’s Baloiloi Daniel taking the Golden Boot title, Andrew Blasius the best Goalkeeper and Fair Play award going to the Allah Soccer Club.
Waname thanked the sponsor of the tournament, Orion Security Services, for the trophies and cash prizes and he also thank Price Rite and Spirit of West for their donations of soft drinks and water.
Meanwhile the NGI Women Soccer Youth Tournament will be held in Kimbe from November 4-7and Waname is urging all provinces to attend the games.
West New Britain Governor Sasindran Muthuvel who was on hand to present the trophies said the Provincial Government has been providing assistance to soccer and other codes.
