Vanuatu woman were regional representatives in the fifth FIFA Women’s Football Symposium held in Frankfurt, Germany last Month July from the 15 to 17 July 2011.
Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) Woman Development Officer Vanuatu Emmie Sope, together with Port Vila’s Woman’s football President Angela Malas, attended this three days Woman’s Football Symposium.
Mrs Malas said there were lectures on important topics from guest speakers and experts in women’s football, talks that were of benefits to all participants at Oceania level including Vanuatu.
“I have noted ideas that will benefit and help upgrade our Women’s football back home and I must say that we in women’s football in vanuatu must work harder to achieve result in OFC competition”
The President of Women’s football Mrs Malas after returning home few weeks ago has forwarding a resolution to VFF President Lambert Maltock stating that appointment of a female development officer for Women’s football be established in the near future to help the future of the sport.
The plan includes a restructuring period of four years, 2012 to 2015, beginning with 6-12 years old, U 15, U 17s, U 20s and senior categories in the Women’s Football in Vanuatu.
Mrs Malas believes Vanuatu has the potential in women’s football and needs great help from VFF and sponsors to develop the game.
Vanuatu senior women’s team lost twice to New Caledonia last week in Port Vila.
OFC Women’s Development Officer, Emmie Sope will have a special meeting with Port Vila Women’s Football executive members and the clubs Presidents next Monday 22 August 2011 at 8am. Venue of the meeting will be at Port Vila Football Stadium.
