Tino is one of 17 players to be named by France national futsal coach Pierre Jacky to take part in a training camp from 11-13 May at the Centre of National Football in Clairefontaine, Paris.
OFC Futsal and Beach Soccer Development Officer Paul Toohey is delighted to hear Tino will be testing himself against some of the best in France.
‘’I think it is a great news for Tino. He is a player of genuine quality, and a very talented pivot. It is not easy to find players who can play in this position,’’ Toohey says.
‘’It is a good reward for a dedicated futsal specialist and also recognition of the tremendous work of FTF in futsal development.’’
It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for the Tino, who has dedicated a huge amount of time to the game since he saw his first game on TV back in Tahiti.
“I learned how to play by watching videos every day and every night. I’m always watching international matches and it gives me inspiration to progress more and more,” Tino said ahead of the FIFA Futsal Instructor Course in Noumea in August last year.
A key member of the Tahitian side that took part in both the 2013 and 2014 OFC Futsal Championship Invitational tournaments, Tino has been described by the OFC Technical Department as a, “ technically strong player, comfortable on the ball with good dribbling skills, finishing ability and a strong pivot with the ability to hold the ball up”.
In 2014 he was named joint Golden Ball winner at the OFC Futsal Championship Invitational in Noumea and more recently his team took out the 2015 Festival des Îles title.
