HONIARA, Match 7: New Caledonia has beaten the Cook Islands 8-0 in the first match of round 4 of the Stage 1 (Group 1) OFC Nations Cup/FIFA World Cup preliminaries in the Solomon Islands today.
New Caledonia led by 6-0 at half-time but was held to just two second half goals as the Cooks tightened up on defence. Prolific New Caledonia striker Michael Hmae was unstoppable, scoring five goals.
