The young coach led his squad to a runners-up finish at the OFC U-20 Championship on home soil in March and has continued to impress with his dedication to all aspects of a coaches role.
OFC technical director Patrick Jacquemet awarded Kumar with his certificate during a short ceremony last week in Fiji and says
he was impressed by the young coach throughout the licencing process.
“Ravinesh did an excellent job with the national U-20 team which challenged the other Member Associations to the very end during the OFC Championship earlier this year,” Jacquemet said.
“He showed maturity as a coach and a proven ability to want to improve and grow in that role. His manner during training sessions is impressive and he is a real asset to the Fiji FA technical team.”
The B Licence got underway for candidates from nine of OFC’s 11 Member Associations in December 2012 with UEFA technical instructor and former coach education manager with the English FA Steve Rutter and OFC head of coach education Didier Chambaron leading a 16-day camp at the OFC Academy in Penrose, Auckland.
During that time each of the candidates was assessed four times and given immediate feedback by the instructors to help them improve their training plans and delivery.
After returning to their respective countries, the candidates were required to provide monthly reports to the OFC technical department outlining their planning preparation and the effectiveness of their training sessions.
Each was required to be working with a team, preferably at an elite level such as a national team.
In the latter half of 2013 Chambaron and Jacquemet began visiting the candidates to evaluate their progress in their natural environments. During the visits the pair provided direction and feedback to help improve and prepare the candidates for their final assessments.
“All the coaches need to practice, they have to improve their delivery so that their players can perform well and understand the message faster,” Chambaron said.
With the majority of final assessments having been completed the time has come for those who have done the hard yards to earn their rewards.
Also earning their B Licences, but unavailable to receive their certificates, were Kumar’s compatriots Imdad Ali and Usenio Logaivau.
With the full support of Fiji FA and especially national director Juan Carlos Buzzetti, all three coaches are expected to contribute towards a strong future for football in Fiji.
