The side rounded out the month of June in the European country as they participated in the first ever elite beach soccer tournament in Croatia, the Umag Beach Soccer Masters, held on 28 and 29 June.
The Tiki Toa finished third at the event, competing alongside the likes of the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Bulgaria.
Day one saw just 14 goals scored in all matches, with Tahiti accounting for five of them as they went down 6-5 to Bulgaria. However, by day two, the sides were all back in high scoring form as 43 goals were recorded over the course of the day.
On this occasion Tahiti found themselves facing off against Hungary and following a very close battle the match finished with the two teams locked at nine goals apiece forcing them to a penalty shootout. Tahiti came out victorious netting two goals to Hungary’s one.
Two victories to the Czech Republic, 3-0 and 6-5 against Hungary and Bulgaria respectively, meant they took the top spot.
The tournament also marked the first ever international match for the Croatia national team as they played two friendly matches against a team comprised of players from each of the event’s participating teams – earning 9-1 and 8-3 victories.
