Their final match of the voyage saw them suffer a 6-4 defeat at the hands of Home United FC in what proved their third successive loss to Singapore opponents.
The side is preparing for the 2015 Pacific Games, which will be hosted in Papua New Guinea capital Port Moresby.
Their first match saw them go town to the Singapore nationa team 2-1 on 5 September, before they lost to club side Tampine FC by a similar scoreline last Tuesday.
Despite the losses the PNG side performed well in each of their matches with coach Wynton Rufer adament the scorelines are not a clear indicator of the side’s quality.
Before travelling to Singapore the side spent some time in Australia’s Gold Coast where they played two friendlies.
The first was a 2-1 loss to Queensland Roar before they went down to Sunshine Coast 6-1.
Assistant coach Milan Miric says it was great experience for the side, especially against the higher ranked Singapore team, 48 spots above Papua New Guinea in the FIFA World Rankings.
“A few of the young boys have gained great experience especially Tommy Semmy, Nigel Dabinyaba and Rodney Mobiha,” he says.
“They have learned a lot from the senior players and we, the coaching staff, were happy with their performance. The players showed good team spirit during the tour.”
Miric says the next step for staff and management is to look at playing further friendly matches in South-East Asia if possible.
