Tahiti’s U-20 team have got off to the perfect start in the play-offs of the Championnat de Tahiti making it two wins from two. The team’s 2-0 win against AS Tiare Tahiti at the weekend has left them level on points with Manu Ura at the top of the table.

After scoring chances for both teams, Steve Chong Hue finally put his team ahead in the 74th minute.  The U-20s, were clearly spurred on by Hue’s goal, struck in the very next minute to put the game out of reach for Tiare. The second goal came through Alvin Tehau who tapped the ball in the back after the Tiare goalkeeper parried Heiarii Tevanae’s initial strike.

AS Manu Ura also made it two from two with a 3-1 win over AS Tefana. Billy Mataitai got the scoring underway in the 32nd minute and ended up earning man of the match for his consistent effort. Rene Attrewe scored an equaliser for AS Tefana in the 46th minute before Stephane Tuairau struck in the 48th minute.  Manu Ura’s third came care of Hiasi Kake in the 59th minute.

In the weekend’s other match, AS Pirae were comfortable winners over AS Tac with Jean-Louis  Wamedjo (6’), Naea Bennett (18’), Iotua Kautai (25’) and Valery Atrewe (82’) all getting on the score sheet.
