The Waitakere United speedster, who also turns out for the Labasa club in Fiji, joined up with the squad on Monday afternoon with fellow Labasa players Sandeep Nair and Ajesh Narayan.
Fiji Football Association (Fiji FA) technical director Saiyad Ali says Krishna’s inclusion is a major boost for the squad, which also includes other top players such as Ben Aminio (Navua), Esava Naqeleca (Suva), Uraia Loki (Nadi), Samuela Drudru (Nadroga), and Lautoka trio Kamal Hassan, Alvin Avinesh and Osea Vakatalesau.
“We know what Roy’s capabilities are and he is also a very disciplined player,” Ali says.
“He has the speed and ability to play futsal and that itself is a major advantage to us.”
The OFC champs will be held from August 8 to 14 at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.
Ali says the Fiji side will continue their preparations for the event over the next few weeks.
They are not the only Fijian team in camp to prepare for a major OFC tournament.
The national women’s squad is building up to the OFC Women’s Nations Cup, to be held in Auckland from September 29 to October 8. The winner will qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in Germany.
