Games are played daily at the Pago Park Soccer Stadium and the season is set to end April 26, concluding with the varsity’s championship game set for that day.
“We look forward to another great and competitive year in high school soccer from the boys,” explained FFAS President Faiivae Iuli Alex Godinet.
“This competition will help our technical department look at players that may have the skills necessary for future national teams of our association.”
VARSITY
Faga’itua Vikings are currently atop the standings by a differential in goals over the Leone Lions while defending champs, Samoana Sharks, are currently sitting in third place.
The Fa’asao-Marist Cougars are No. 4 in the standings, followed by the Kanana Fou Stallions, South Pacific Academy Dolphins, Tafuna Warriors and finally, Nu’uuli Voc-Tech Wildcats.
With eight teams in the competition, the school that sits in the eighth and final spot of the standings will not enter the playoffs. The No. 1 seed gets a free pass from participating in the first round of the playoffs while No. 2 through to No. 7 will vie for the three other spots in the semi-finals.
The season runs for one, round-robin format plus two additional games selected by the DOE’s Athletics Department.
First round of the playoffs is set for April 21-22 with the semi-finals scheduled for April 24.
JUNIOR VARSITY
Four teams are tied with three points each in the division and from No. 1 to No. 4, are Samoana, Faga’itua, Tafuna and Leone by order of differential in goals.
The division’s defending champion, Fa’asao-Marist, currently sits at the bottom of the standings at No. 5.
Teams will compete in a two, round-robin schedule with the school in the No. 1 position at the end of the season to be crowned champions.
