Lifou based club Lossi earned their place in the southern final after defeating fellow Super Ligue side Tiga Sport 3-1 and now face the OFC Champions League bound Mont-Dore team, who will unfortunately be without a number of key players.
Mont-Dore coach Harold Oiremoin says despite not having his strongest team available the side will go into the match looking to win.
“We will be without five U-20 internationals and Olivier Dokunengo, the captain of the national team, so we will take advantage of that to give some game time to other players, Oiremoin says.
“We are lucky to have a solid bench and we will therefore have no trouble fielding a competitive team on Wednesday. Because one thing is certain, we really hope to go right to the end of the coupe d’ouverture. That would be a perfect entrée in regards to the champions league.”
With the side set to dispute their first match of the OFC Champions League shortly after the coupe d’ouverture, Oiremoin says it is an important part of the team’s build-up to participate in the local competition – and do well.
“It has been about a month since we began training and regularly playing friendly matches so we are not far from being ready for the champions league.”
