Along with Paraguayan FA president Juan Ángel Napout, van Hattum will head the Task Force Transparency and Compliance, one of four announced by FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter last week as part of a series of measures to ensure good governance, transparency and zero tolerance for wrongdoing on or off the pitch.
“It’s a great honour and responsibility to be involved in the reform process,” van Hattum says.
“FIFA’s name has been tarnished by the actions of a few but there is a very strong commitment from the worldwide football family to improve processes, add greater transparency and restore FIFA’s reputation.”
The four groups – Task Force Revision of Statutes, Task Force Football 2014 and Task Force FIFA Ethics Committee are the others – feed into the good governance committee which will oversee the reform process.
The first reform proposals from the task forces will be discussed at the next FIFA Executive Committee meeting in Tokyo on December 16 and 17.
