All the teams had a break last week but are straight back into the action with Nadi hosting Nasinu at 7pm on Saturday night at Prince Charles Park and Tavua travelling to Lawaqa Park to face Nadroga on Sunday. Vodafone Fiji FACT runner-up Navua takes on the Skippy U-20 side on the same day at Thompson Park.
The latter two matches will both kick off at 3pm.
Lautoka maintains their lead at the top of the standings with 31 points but will be on a bye this round along with other sides like Ba, Rewa, Suva and Labasa.
Fiji Football Association (FFA) competitions manager Jainendra Sukhu says the results of this weekend’s matches will be vital.
“We are at a very crucial stage of the national league. Points at this stage are very vital and teams will need to be on their toes to remain in the top half. No one wants to finish at the bottom of the standings to play the promotion-relegation match,” he says.
“Navua will face an uphill battle against the U-20 side on Sunday. The U-20’s have beaten teams like Nadi, Rewa and Tavua and should do well against Navua,” Sukhu adds.
“Tavua and Nadroga are rivals and their match is expected to go down to the wire. Nasinu held Nadi 1-1 in the last round and it will be interesting to see the outcome this time.”
