Takaro, who has served as the deputy principal of Central School in Port Vila for the past seven years, resigned from teaching last month to take over the management of the football Academy this week.
Vanuatu Football Federation president Lambert Maltock said it is a great to see someone like Takaro to step down from teaching and work for football.
“I have a lot of respect for Peter and on behalf of all football family in Vanuatu, I wish to welcome him on board. I thank him for accepting the offer to be the academy manager because we need a really good manager as we are receiving more funds from FIFA to help develop the academy.
“I would also like to thank the Vanuatu government for their continuous support to the beautiful game of football. We now have four well trained teachers working with Vanuatu Football and this is very good news for football family.
“Education is sport and sport is education. The two organisations must work together to develop our selected young footballers to another level that is why we have the four teachers working full time with VFF now,” Maltock said.
The new three are teachers are Peter Takaro, George Kalo and Vidal Tanemeulip.
“Being appointed as academy manager is a real honour for me as it is highly regarded as the best and only football academy in Vanuatu.” Takaro said of his appointment.
“I am sure that the Teouma Academy is the best in the country and we must look after the facilities well. The academy has a great team already and I’m enjoying working with them. The venue, building and equipment are first-class and I’m relishing the opportunity this role will give me,” he concluded.
