The tournament, previously known as the O-League, will see eight of the Pacific’s finest teams from seven OFC member association countries fight it out for the right to be crowned kings of Oceania from 30 March 2013 to 19 May 2013.
The eight teams – Group A features Amicale (Vanuatu), Ba (Fiji), Hekari United (Papua New Guinea) and Solomon Warriors (Solomon Islands) while Group B consists of Auckland City (New Zealand), Dragon (Tahiti), Mont Dore (New Caledonia) and Waitakere United (New Zealand) – will do battle over 29 matches, including one round of mid-week games.
All matches are scheduled to kick-off on a Saturday at 3pm local time in the various countries involved, with the exception of the final and several clashes in Group B.
Tahitian champions Dragon will play their three home games on Friday evenings at 7.30pm local time while the mid-week round on April 17 will bring about an action-packed festival of football for fans in New Zealand.
OFC Champions League title holders Auckland City and recent national league winners Waitakere United will both play in Auckland at Henderson’s Trusts Stadium on that day, with Auckland set to meet Dragon at 3pm before Waitakere and Mont-Dore face off from 6pm.
The double header in New Zealand is the only occasion when any of the sides participating in the tournament will stray from their home grounds. The venues and regions each club will be based at are as follows: Amicale (Port Vila Stadium, Port Vila), Auckland City (Kiwitea St, Auckland), Ba (Govind Park, Ba), Dragon (Stade Pater, Papeete), Hekari United (PMRL Stadium, Port Moresby), Mont-Dore (Stade Numa Daly, Noumea), Solomon Warriors (Lawson Tama Stadium, Honiara) and Waitakere United (Fred Taylor Park, Auckland).
The two-legged semi-finals will take place at 3pm on consecutive Saturdays on May 4 and 11 while the final will be staged from 3pm on Sunday 19 May in Auckland, New Zealand.
