The trophy visited Tahiti then Fiji as part of its extensive 267-day journey, covering 89 countries, and giving the opportunity to millions of fans to enjoy a rare close-up view of the authentic solid-gold trophy, the very same one that is presented to the winners of every FIFA World Cup™.
The original FIFA World Cup™ Trophy is 36.8 centimetres (14.5 inches) high, weighs 6.175 grams (13.61 pounds) and is made of solid, 18-carat gold.
The base contains two layers of semi-precious malachite while its underside is engraved with the year and name of each FIFA World Cup™ winner since 1974.
The 1974 tournament was the first to crown the champion with the brand new award that replaced the Jules Rimet Cup, which at that time was given to the nation that had managed to win the competition three times. The honoured country back then was Brazil.
FIFA World Cup arrives in Vanuatu on Sunday 22 September 2013 at Bauerfield International Airport at 11.30am local time.
The FIFA World Cup™ Trophy will then travel to the Warwick Le Lagon Hotel & Spa in Port Vila, Vanuatu, on Monday 23 September.
