AUCKLAND – After breaking a long drought with three goals in their last two matches against Australia, the Football Ferns are expecting more to flow in Saturday’s one-off Olympic qualifier against Papua New Guinea.
Thunderstorms and heavy rain are forecast for Port Moresby along with temperatures up to 35 degrees Celsius but New Zealand coach John Herdman is confident his side has enough composure to keep their powder dry in the early running and enough class to prevail despite trying conditions.
“Most of our players have experience of playing in Papua New Guinea [in World Cup qualifying last year] so know what to expect,” said Herdman.
