The extensive coverage will also be aired on several regional television stations across the Pacific region.
The tournament begins on Thursday morning and runs until Friday 29 April with the winner going on to represent Oceania at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia during July and August.
OFC General Secretary Tai Nicholas is delighted to be able to bring all the action to football fans right across the confederation’s 11 member associations.
“Our coverage will be comprehensive with a combination of internet video and audio streaming and live television coverage into the Pacific of the semi-final and final matches,” Nicholas says.
“Football fans in the Pacific should get in touch with their local TV station to find out whether they have an agreement with OFC. If an agreement is in place, the broadcaster will be authorised to air our matches.”
As host broadcaster of the U-20 tournament, OFC will use a team of camera operators, producers and editors to manage the coverage, including a four-camera shoot for finals day.
Several television stations have already confirmed their interest in showing the footage, such as Mai TV (Fiji), Kundu (Papua New Guinea), VBTC (Vanuatu), TNTV (Tahiti) and Our Telekom (Solomon Islands).
OFC TV is covering the tournament and will feed daily delayed coverage of each group game to all broadcasters in the Pacific before sending out the last four matches – the two semi-finals, 3rd/4th play-off and grand final – live via satellite.
It marks an important step in the commercialisation of OFC’s television production to ensure fans across the Pacific have access to quality coverage.
