HONIARA – Two successful courses held in the Solomon Islands are proof that Futsal and Beach continue to develop within the Oceania region.
The OFC Futsal Coaching Programme and the FIFA MA Beach Soccer Referees Courses have been held at the Solomon Islands Football Federation Academy over the past two weeks and received praise from participants and officials alike.
The Beach Soccer Course was well attended and at the completion of the six-day tournament 30 referees received their certificates. Visiting FIFA Referee Instructor Massimo Raveino praised the participants for their patience and encouraged them to work hard. Raveino said the certificates they received can be used anywhere.
Meanwhile the Futsal course ended yesterday and also included 30 participants. OFC Futsal Development Officer Scott Gilligan said he would like futsal to continue growing in popularity and that the coaches who attended the course will help do that.
Gilligan was a renowned Australian Futsal coach before taking up the OFC role and he is passionate about spreading futsal throughout Oceania.
