Waitakere kicked things off with a solid 2-0 home victory against a well-organised AS Manu Ura at Fred Taylor Park in Auckland on Saturday afternoon taking them to the top of Group A.
O-League newcomers Lautoka are now leading Group B with a second straight away win, this time against Hekari United at Port Moresby Rugby League Stadium. After a penalty goal by Hekari in the first half, the Fijians fought back to secure victory with second half goals to Valerio Nawatu and Apisai Smith.
It was another close encounter at Lawson Tama Stadium in Honiara where Marist suffered a second home defeat going down 0-2 to Vanuatu’s Tafea.
