Hudson has been selected for the latest cycle of a programme which has helped develop some of New Zealand’s best coaches including All Blacks leader Steven Hansen, Black Caps coach Mike Hesson and Cycling New Zealand Head Coach Dale Cheatley.
Among the latest group to be picked for the programme – along with the likes of Warriors assistant coach Tony Iro and Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic netball assistant Margaret Forsyth – Hudson sees his inclusion in the Coach Accelerator Programme as a key step on his path with the All Whites.
“I’m really passionate about coaching and development and this programme is a dream for coaches like me,” Hudson said.
“I am committed to building the national team and making sure we get to Russia in 2018 but also, most importantly, building a team the country will be proud of, with a good style of play, strong team spirit and to leave the team in a healthy and sustainable place for the future.
“I’m confident being part of the Coach Accelerator Programme will help me achieve those goals.”
New Zealand Football High Performance Director Fred de Jong welcome’s Hudson’s selection for the programme – which has also seen Football Ferns coach Tony Readings involved in a previous cycle – as a key tool in driving the elite game forwards.
“World class coaching is a vital ingredient in developing the ability of our international teams to achieve success at World Cups and Olympic Games,” de Jong said.
“The Coach Accelerator Programme not only provides fantastic learning opportunities and improves coaches’ skills, it also gives coaches the chance to gain awareness and share ideas from other high performance environments across the New Zealand sporting landscape.”
HPSNZ Chief Executive Alex Baumann says quality coaching is critical to the success of individual athletes and teams, as well as the overall high performance system.
“Through the Coach Accelerator Programme, we’re able to help skilled coaches further develop their leadership and coaching styles so that they are world’s best and can lead their athletes and teams to world’s best performances.”
“That vision fits perfectly within the programme New Zealand Football is building for the All Whites and their elite sides and we’re looking forward to working with Anthony to help create the platform for success of his team.”
High Performance Sport Coach Accelerator Programme
Coach Accelerator is a three-year professional development programme. The group of coaches selected each year learn about the art of coaching, and are also given individualised programmes focusing on areas they each need to work on to be world’s best.
The programme is structured through a series of residential workshops, access to coaching mentors, and engaging with experts from various high performance environments. One of its unique features is that it brings together coaches from different sporting codes into an environment where they can also share and learn from each other.
