The official draw, presided over by OFC Head of Competitions Michael Song, before members of the general secretariat, revealed the order of the finals matches.
“To ensure fairness to the participating clubs and to ensure advanced planning remained on track it was important for the OFC to conduct this draw at this moment in time.
“There are always logistical challenges in our region when planning a football match particularly when the finale could take place in one of either Fiji, New Zealand, Tahiti or Vanuatu,” Song says, “This draw also allows the participating clubs some clarity for their own preparations after the semi-finals conclude this weekend.”
The draw was completed as follows:
The winner of Amicale FC v Ba will host the OFC Champions League Final, 1st Leg on Saturday 10 May or Sunday 11 May.
The winner of AS Pirae v Auckland City FC will host the OFC Champions League Final, 2nd Leg on Saturday 17 May or Sunday 18 May.
Amicale FC face Ba on home ground in Vanuatu this Saturday afternoon at 2:30pm local time, while AS Pirae play Auckland City FC in the second leg of their semi-final clash in Tahiti at 8:45pm (TAHT).
Auckland City currently leads AS Pirae 3-0 on aggregate, while Amicale lead Ba 2-1.
This is the first time in two years the competition will conclude in a home and away series.
Seven of the previous 12 OFC Champions League finals have been completed in this format.
