The nominees are as follows:
Roy Krishna (Waitakere United, Labasa)
Star Waitakere United and Labasa striker Krishna played a huge role in the Babasiga Lions’ triumph at the 2011 Inter District Championship. Missed much of the season due to injury but recovered in time for national commitments during the series against Samoa and Vanuatu. Was a vital member of the national men’s side during the XIV Pacific Games in New Caledonia.
Jone Salauneune (Tavua)
Young striker Salauneune made his mark for Tavua last season and scored some memorable goals during the National Football League and other major tournaments. He was also highly rated for his performances in the national U-20 side at the Oceania championships in New Zealand last year.
Simione Tamanisau (Rewa)
Inspirational goalkeeper Simione Tamanisau led the national side at the Pacific Games and skippered his Rewa men to consecutive title wins in the Champions League, Fiji FACT and Battle of the Giants tournaments.
Eran Underwood (Nadroga)
Nadroga striker Eran Underwood made his debut for both the football and futsal national sides in the 2011 season. He earned that right after proving himself as one of the finest attackers in the country with a string of good performances in the Fiji FACT.
Avinesh Waran Suwamy (Ba)
Whether performing in the O-league, Pacific Games or any local tournament, Ba right back Suwamy has been one of the most eye-catching players on the field. Despite playing at the back, the crowd favourite is a lethal finisher and featured prominently for the Men in Black throughout the 2011 season.
Priya Singh (Suva women)
Is regarded as a match winner due to her habit of scoring key goals in the dying stages of games, a feat she pulled off against Labasa to earn Suva the Inter District Championship title. She was also the hero of the Fiji team’s campaign at the Pacific Games after firing a 40-yard attempt home for a 1-0 win over Tonga in the 3rd/4th play-off to earn bronze for her country.
