This alone should bring in the crowd through the gates at the Sir Ignatius Kilage stadium in Lae.
Gigira have vowed on the social media and on the streets of Lae that they are the kings and the undisputed heavyweights in Morobe Football but that mantle would be tested come tomorrow.
Gigira is also fuming that Lae FC crept up its backside and stole some of the cream of their talents in young midfield Emmanuel Simon, forward Emmanuel Yawi, goalkeeper Roland Warisan and hardened defender Goroba Tawa.
The quartet has formed that basis of Lae’s defence and attack, and thin of the Lae’s forages in the trial matches, tomorrow should be no different.
Gigira undisputed heavyweights tag is fragile because they were soundly beaten by Besta United in the third and fourth place play-offs last season’s finals.
They need 200 percent effort to stop Lae. Some of the kids who played for Besta are now with Lae FC and they also know how to win.
Defenders Carlos Peka and Lee Wabing, Flankers Richie Biaro and Peter Dabinyaba Jr know how to win and they will big part of Lae FC’s make up.
Simon and Kohu Liem, another former Gigira star form the Lae midfied, the engine room to launch its attacks.
However, they know they will be up against an enigma in Eluid Fugre in the Gigira colours. The battle between the trios will be a battle within a battle, the winner of this battle will surely win the game for their side.
Gigira will bank on Fugre in Midfield, Bekan Yanum whether up front or in defence Valentine Nelson Zetura in defence to lead the way with host of youngsters.
Lae coach Peter Gunemba is pensive and says his side is the underdog because Gigira has the experience of being part the NSL since its inception.
Gunemba said a win first up will be very sweet but if they lose they will, have to learn from their mistake, regroup for the next game.
“We have some players from Gigira FC and Besta FC in our team but the bulk of our players are new but we will play football.” he said.
He said both teams have solid defenders and whoever does a simple mistake will pay the price by losing the game.
