It was smiles all around on the part of Fiji FA as the CJ Patel Group of Companies confirmed it would come on board once again with a $150,000 FJD sponsorship package for the 2012 season.
From the sum, $100,000 will go towards the running of the national league while the remaining $50,000 has been allocated for the national youth league.
National league board chairman Yogeshwar Singh said it would have been a difficult task to run the national league without the sponsorship.
“We are very grateful to CJ Patel Group of Companies for the continued support,” he said.
“It is always a difficult task to get sponsors for a competition of this nature but CJ Patel has come on board to prove what a wonderful corporate organisation they are and are out to assist in enhancing the level of football in Fiji.”
CJ Patel unveiled its new brand GP Batteries at the launch and marketing director Nathan Hildebrand said a competition like the national league provides them with a perfect platform to market the new brand.
Hildebrand also announced that, in addition to the $150,000 sponsorship deal, a further $50,000 worth of advertising and promotion space would be provided by the Fiji Sun newspaper, which is also part of the CJ Patel Group and has a relationship with the Fiji FA.
The successful partnership between Fiji FA and the Fiji Sun has seen the publication of the popular Fiji Football News, which is produced as a weekly pull-out in the newspaper and is now into its third season.
