Four teams will be in action during an opening round which will see Rewa battling Navua at 1pm and hosts Suva facing Nasinu from 4pm.
Both matches will be held at the Pacific Theological College grounds.
Fiji FA technical director Saiyad Ali says the zonal league will be a major boost in the campaign to prepare the national women’s side for this year’s Pacific Games, which will take place in New Caledonia from August 28 to September 12.
“Firstly, I would like to thank Fiji FA president Dr. Sahu Khan and the Board of Control for giving the green light for the Women’s Zonal League,” he says.
“This will now provide our female footballers with the chance to play regularly in a competition. The selectors will be on the look out for potential talent for the national women’s side.”
The national team put in a disappointing showing in its last outing, the 2010 OFC Women’s Nations Cup in New Zealand.
Fiji earned just one point from three games in Auckland and finished at the bottom of Group B, which also included Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Tonga.
