The side has been undergoing an intense training schedule as it builds up to the tournament which is being held in Lautoka and Ba from 21-29 March.
As well as training, they have also been playing warm-up matches against local sides and have a match against Vanuatu club champions and OFC Champions League contenders Amicale on the horizon.
With the full-on schedule taking up most of the players free time, management decided to give them a break on Sunday to take in the action at Churchill Park.
Imdad Ali, a member of the U-20 coaching panel, says preparations are going well.
“The team is covering the hard yards and we have been playing warm-up matches against local club teams. So far we have played Ba, Tavua and Lautoka and we will also be playing Vanuatu’s Amicale,” Ali says.
“This will help us to build up our combination and set plays before going into the playoffs.”
Ali says the outcome of the warm-up matches is not of concern to management but that the fixtures are an opportunity for the side to develop some cohesiveness ahead of the tournament.
“The result in the match against Amicale will not matter as long as the players get experience and game time,” he says.
All matches in the OFC U-20 Championship will be held at Churchill Park, except for the final round which will take place at Govind Park in Ba.
