Facilitated by OFC head of coach education Didier Chambaron, the week long course welcomed 18 local coaches keen to develop their skill set and thus the level of the game in their respective clubs and regions.
“This C Licence offers coaches more knowledge in terms of tactics and techniques to perform at the highest level of competition,” Chambaron said.
“We have introduced the principals of the game and game understanding and I hope coaches will go back and practice those newly acquired skills in order to make them better.”
Chambaron said football is in a state of constant development and coaches have to be equipped with the abilities to adapt to those changing situations.
“We need coaches with new ideas to produce better players which long term will mean a better national team,” he continued.
“The participants did very well as they were a group which was very keen to learn. I would like to thank the Fiji FA technical department for bringing together a keen set of coaches who are striving to learn and achieve more.”
Chambaron said the most important thing following the conclusion of the course is that all the participants are active coaches in order to be accredited with their C Licence, something Fiji FA national coaching director Juan Carlos Buzzetti will be overseeing.
“Development of local coaches is a major part of our programme here at Fiji FA,” he said.
“We also had a course last year, and now this one. This is our main priority as we will be starting the U-13 and U-15 leagues soon and coaches will have the responsibility in their respective districts to help take the game to the next level.”
