Pukapuka FA representative Nauma Atiau says the gear, which includes playing strips and football boots, will certainly assist local players during this season’s competitions which are scheduled to kick-off next month.
“For sure the players in Pukapuka will enjoy this new football gear and it will unquestionably be put to good use,” Nauma says.
“We are always privileged to receive useful resources for our people in Pukapuka and we thank Cook Islands Football and especially Reagan Milstein Foundation for this fantastic equipment.”
CIFA president Lee Harmon, who presented Pukapuka with the equipment on Monday with CIFA referee development officer Lai Gukisuva, acknowledges the support of the Reagan Milstein Foundation and says the equipment will change the lives of players living in the outer islands especially in Pukapuka.
Mangaia Football Association have previously received football equipment and Pukapuka is the second island to receive the gift of boots, playing strips and balls from the Reagan Milstein Foundation.
The Reagan Milstein Foundation is an Australian-based non-profit organisation that was created in the memory of popular, football-loving teenager Reagan Milstein, who died tragically at 14-years-old following a scuba diving accident in 2010.
The foundation receives football boots and shoes that are donated and reconditioned before being given to less fortunate children so they can experience the joy of football.
In October last year, CIFA received a shipment of donated goods in a moving hand-over ceremony held at the CIFA complex with Associate Minister of Sports John Henry, Israeli ambassador to New Zealand Shemi Tzur and CIFA president Lee Harmon in attendance.
