Looking ahead to the 2010 Vodafone Fiji FACT, the first round begins this weekend while the tournament proper starts on 27 May at Churchill Park in Lautoka.
Vodafone has handed over their sponsorship cheque for the tournament, which Vodafone Corporate Affairs Manager Shailendra Prasad anticipates will be a successful one.
“It is a pleasure indeed for us to present to Fiji Football Association the sponsorship cheque of $50,000 which goes towards the hosting of the 2010 Vodafone Fiji FACT. Of course we are delighted to once again partner Fiji FA for the first tournament of the year.
“Normally the first tournament is the one which brings about more excitement. The hype building towards the 2010 Vodafone Fiji FACT is really great. The teams are now gearing to a more serious mode. Of course Navua has won the tournament for the last two years and there will be many teams out there to break the winning streak.
“One of the few things we have noted in the National Football League this year is that tops team like Lautoka and Ba are seriously being challenged by the other teams. All in all the tournament is shaping up to be a very competitive one,” Prasad said.
Fiji FA Chief Executive Officer Bob Kumar applauded Vodafone for their support.
“On behalf of the Fiji FA President Dr. M.S. Sahu Khan I would like to thank Vodafone for having confidence in us and joining hands in promoting the event. The 2010 Vodafone Fiji FACT is the first major tournament of the year and has a lot of followers around the country that will gather at Churchill Park.
“Promotions by Vodafone and Fiji FA contributing towards the tickets is building up the event. Fiji FACT is a highly competitive tournament and 10 super premier districts will be taking part. Adding to that we will also have three U-16 boys teams and a U-17 girls team,” Kumar said.
The Fiji FACT tournament will be held from the 27-30 May at Churchill Park.
