Not only did the side record the biggest winning margin of the league so far this season, but Brazilian import Jefferson Moura made his mark on the score sheet for the first time since joining the team.
Club president Jean Yves Chabod said the match proved his side were deserving of the title despite a slow start to the season.
“The victories kept coming thanks to the huge effort and determination of the players and the league title is ours again,” Chabod said.
With one match remaining against Tafea on Saturday, Amicale coach Philemon John is relieved to have wrapped up the season on top after facing a tough challenge from Premier League newcomers Erakor Golden Star.
After recording a historic 2-1 victory over Amicale on November 17, Erakor Golden Star leap-frogged the defending champions to the top of the table.
Amicale also lost their first game of the season 2-0 to Shepherds United, however this week that loss was reversed following a decision by the Port Vila Football Association.
Shepherds United failed to register Richard Ken making him ineligible for the match and PVFA regulations clearly state that fielding an unregistered player automatically results in a forfeit.
The decision boosted Amicale to the top of the table ahead of their match against Seveners United with 31 points and two games to play, while Erakor remained on 29 points with only one match remaining.
Ahead of the match against Seveners, John said finishing first in the league was important for the history of the club.
“It is important to play a good game and win to prove that the team has the quality to compete in the National Super League,” John said.
“We have had the opportunity to play against some great clubs this season and we want to know how we can forget the defeats against Erakor Golden Star and Shepherds United and regain confidence in our quality.”
With the pressure having been lifted, Amicale will go into the Christmas break relaxed, before turning their focus to the next challenge – the VFF National Super League.
The top three teams from the TVL Premier League qualify for the National Super League, which is due to kick-off in March, with the victor going on to represent Vanuatu in the OFC Champions League in 2014.
Amicale qualified for the 2013 edition of the OFC Champions League after winning the National Super League title earlier this year.
