With presenting partners EA SPORTS™ and Sony PlayStation®, the eighth edition of the FIWC has broken new records globally with over one million players registering for the tournament.

A combination of online qualification series and live qualifier events will determine the best 23 players in the world to join reigning FIWC champion Francisco Cruz at the Grand Final.

In Oceania, the ‘FIWC 2012 Live Event Series’ kicked off in Tahiti last year and has now reached Solomon Islands where the country’s best gamers will compete in Honiara this week on Saturday 7 April from 9am local time at the Heritage Hotel for a chance to progress in the tournament.

New Zealand’s qualifying event will be held on the morning of Saturday 21 April at Auckland’s Sylvia Park shopping centre with the OFC Final to proceed in the afternoon.

Competing in the final will be the champions of Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, New Zealand, Solomon Islands and Tahiti, with the eventual winner going on to represent Oceania at the FIWC Grand Final. An announcement on the host city and the exact date of the Grand Final is expected to be made soon on FIFA.com
