Tahiti referee Norbert Huata was joined by assistant referees Ravinesh Kumar of Fiji and Mark Rule from New Zealand to control the U-15 mens’ match between South American side Bolivia and Haiti, an encounter Bolivia won 9-0.
Huata, one of OFC’s leading match officials, was kept busy during his first match, issuing three yellow cards – two for Haiti and one for Bolivia.
Bolivia’s win sees them qualify for the semi-finals where they will meet either Singapore or Montenegro.
Haiti’s capitulation means Vanuatu require a draw to progress to the last four. Vanuatu plays Haiti on August 19.
Zimbabwe, beaten 2-1 by Montenegro, have been eliminated from medal contention despite a brave performance and will meet either Haiti or Vanuatu in the playoff for fifth place.
In the girls’ tournament, Papua New Guinea must defeat Turkey if they are to edge out Iran and progress to the semi-finals.
