Jordan, who won two OFC Champions League titles with Auckland City FC in 2006 and 2009, passed away in Pretoria on Monday 21 October, 2013, after a lengthy struggle with cancer.
Jordan was 37.
“Keryn Jordan was an outstanding footballer who inspired everyone in the football community with not only his skill and ability but his personality.
“He could set a game alight when you least expected it and he will be sorely missed,” Chung says.
The Auckland City FC striker retired from playing in 2010 when his symptoms began to worsen.
Jordan’s appearance for an Oceania Selection during the Christian Karembeu Jubilee match in Noumea, New Caledonia, in 2008, saw the former Bafana Bafana star line up alongside Zinedine Zidane, Christian Karembeu and former All Whites striker Vaughan Coveney.
He also made two appearances at the FIFA Club World Cup in Japan 2006 and Abu Dhabi in 2009 when Auckland City FC finished a creditable fifth.
“I wish to express our condolences to the Jordan family and everyone at both Auckland City and Waitakere United, Keryn’s first New Zealand club, on behalf of everyone in the Oceania football community.
“Moments such as these put everything into perspective,” Chung says.
Jordan is survived by his former partner Sherry and his son Liam.
