Held at the J.S. Blatter Football Complex in Tuanaimato, the festival aimed to unite women and girls and encourage them to get active, make friends and be healthy while also learning to play football.
FFS CEO Sarai Bareman says the day was dedicated to women and girls, who are precious members of the Samoan community.
“As a sport football can be discriminatory and the Football Federation Samoa wants to provide opportunities for every girl and woman in Samoa to take part and be involved,” Bareman says.
“Through football we can unite women, families, villages and communities.”
Festival participants were divided into five different age groups and then took part in fun activities to develop football skills like passing and dribbling with the ball.
The skill-building activities were followed by small-sided games and special activities for the younger attendees.
The FFS gave away snacks, exercise books and football magazines and everyone who registered was in with a chance to win brand new football boots or jerseys.
The next Soccer Sisters Festival will be held on November 24.
