PORT VILA – After an uplifting end to the national team’s 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ Oceanian Qualifiers, attention switches back to domestic football and the Port Vila Football Association (PVFA)TVL Premier League.

This weekend Port-Vila Municipal Stadium hosts some exceptional fixtures with some eye-catching matches resuming between fierce rivals.

Recent results have shown that several title contenders are ready to challenge the big teams.

It will be an important weekend of actions with some clubs desperate for points.

IFIRA BB FC         vs        WESTTAN BRONCOS FC

Ifira Black Bird currently last in the standings, are desperate for points in order to bounce back in the TVL Premier league; and they will certainly aim to record their first win of the season when taking on Westtan Broncos this weekend.

Westtan Broncos despite losing their last encounter against Seveners Utd last week, will be looking to regain the quality displayed in their victories over PVFA giants Yatel FC and Tupuji Imere FC.

Westtan Broncos’ new fire gun Mikey Olul, who left his home island of Pentecost to strengthen Westtan Broncos attack this season, will be the player to watch.

TAFEA FC             vs        TUPUJI IMERE FC

One of the most important fixtures in Port-Vila football comes to life once again at 2pm. when Tupuji Imere FC takes on reigning champion Tafea FC.

With the return of Tupuji Imere jewel Fenedy Masauvakalo and the legendary Tafea player Richard Iwai from playing for Mitchelton in Brisbane, fans will be looking for an exciting game with plenty of goals.

It will also be an important moment for Vanuatu’s retired veteran goalkeeper David Chilia who recently signed for Tupuji Imere FC after spending more then 7 years with Tafea FC.

Tupuji Imere FC know they will need to get three vital points to cut the deficit and give themselves a fighting chance for the TVL Premier League title.

A loss will seriously compromise their chances to finish at the top this season.

Tafea FC will be without some key players, Pita Maki and Jean Nako Naprapol – who is leading the goal scorers table – are both suffering from ankle injuries and are in doubt for this weekends clash.

Tafea FC will rely on nspirational midfielders Francois Sakama and Etienne Mermer to help his team maintain their leadership position in the TVL Premier league.

ERAKOR GOLDEN STAR FC    vs        AMICAL FC

This should be a fascinating contest between two clubs looking to achieve upward mobility this season and lay a serious challenge to Tafea FC.

Erakor Golden Star FC has looked impressive in all of their matches to date, despite losing their last encounter against Tafea.

Coach Nano Reuben is  relying on his young squad to achieve another big win this weekend and take the second spot of the table away from Amical FC.

Amical FC  is the new sensation of this Port-Vila Football Association’s TVL Premier League, and from now on under the new management of Andrew Leong, will be looking to maintain their winning stride after securing two wins on the trot.

Amical FC’s playmaker, Robert Yelou is serving a match suspension after receiving his second caution during their last win against Ifira BB 2-0.

Andrew Leong is aiming to ensure Amical FC consolidates its second place position with a view to making a push for the title.

"To get seven points from our first four games is a good start and we are delighted about that, but there is still a lot of hard work to be done.

A good result on Saturday will be very important in terms of confidence because a win against one of our big rivals gives us options for the title race," Leong said.

YATEL FC vs. SEVENERS UNITED

Yatel FC is inan uncomfortable 7th position in the standings with only 3 points after four games and now eye their first victory on Tuesday night when taking on Seveners United at the Port-Vila Municipal Stadium.

The fighting spirit of United will make it tough for Yatel.

Seveners defeated Westtan Broncos 3-2  in something of an upset, and this result will certainly boost confidence.
