The Argentine was running the rule over the talent at his disposal as he looks to help put together a Fiji side capable of a strong showing in the Oceania qualifers for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the second stage of which will take place in June.
The Champions League was won by Ba, for whom Malakai Tiwa was a stand-out figure and went on to be named player of the tournament.
Buzzetti agreed with the selection and admits his head was turned by the skills of the midfielder.
“There is no doubt that Tiwa was the best player at the tournament,” he says.
“He scored two good goals, controlled play well and organised well in the midfield.”
Other players to catch Buzzetti’s eye included Peniame Drova and Esava Samudere, who starred for Rewa and Suva respectively.
“I thought they were both outstanding. They played really well throughout,” he says.
Of those that impressed the coaching director, who re-joined the Fiji Football Association at the end of last year, Tiwa has been named in a 30-man national team training squad while the other pair are both in the U-23 squad preparing for the Olympic qualifiers.
Each squad will be trained by Imdad Ali after the U-23 coach stepped up to also take on the senior role temporarily following the resignation of Yogendra Dutt.
Any U-23 players who may also be involved in the senior set up have been deliberately left out at this stage and will link up with the senior squad once the Olympic qualifiers are out of the way.
The Oceania qualifying tournament for the 2012 London Olympics will take place in March while the senior Fiji team will have its first camp from February 6-10 at the national academy in Ba.
“At the moment it is difficult to judge the performance of the players as it is just too early in the season,” Buzzetti says.
“We have got to get a squad in camp, check their fitness and assess any injuries they might be carrying. We will be monitoring the players further in the national league and other tournaments.”
