For AS Tefana it was a disappointing end after an outstanding performance saw them come ever so close to qualifying for the 8th Round, something they last achieved in 2008.
Having opened the scoring at the beginning of the second half courtesy of midfielder Sylvain Graglia, Tefana looked like they might repeat that feat.
Despite an outstanding performance in goal for his side, Tefana goalkeeper Xavier Samin were unable to keep the Noisy-le-Sec attack at bay with the equaliser coming 15 minutes from time.
The winner came at the beginning of additional time following a defensive error from the Polynesians.
“It’s a massive disappointment but details are important in a round of the Coupe de France,” goal scorer Graglia underlined.
“We can still be proud of our match because we proved that we can measure up against an unbeaten side from CFA 2. We need to play matches like this every weekend in order to improve more rapidly.”
Noisy-le-Sec coach Nasser Sandjak was happy to secure the win, and impressed by the performance of their Pacific opponent.
“I was very suprised by the level of our adversaries,” Sandjak said.
“They are a really good team. We are happy to be continuing as champions at this stage.”
For Tefana coach Sebastien Labayen the loss was disappointing, but he’s already looking to the future.
“My players shouldn’t be embarassed by their performance. What we have built is a strong team for the coming years.
“I hope that Xavier (Samin) can continue to play a few more years with us. Me, I stopped at 40 years old, he has to at least do the same,” he laughed.
For the keeper that’s certainly an option as he is already eyeing up the 2015 OFC Champions League.
“We can’t let our heads drop at this elimination,” Samin insisted.
“Contesting the Champions League will allow us to garner further experience. We need to be ambitious. We reached the final in 2012. Why not win this season?”
In New Caledonia coach Alain Moizan’s did well to keep Trélissac contained to just a 1-0 lead going into the break but couldn’t repeat their feat of 2010 when they qualified for the 8th Round.
And faced with a side as experienced as Trélissac the locals were made to pay for any errors with the France-based side able to knock in two further goals to extend their lead.
While there will not be any Oceania team continuing in the Coupe de France, for two New Caledonians the journey will be continuing.
Cesar Zeoula’s Stade Lavallois qualified with a 7-0 victory over Saint-Berthevin, though the Caledonian didn’t participate in the match.
Meanwhile George Gope-Fenepej and new club Boulougne won 4-1 to qualify for the 8th Round with the striker the author of a 49th minute goal.
