PVFA president Christian Kaltabang says the association is very keen to support the growth of the sport amongst women in the region.
“The PVFA supports gender equality and on behalf of the executive members, clubs and players, we would like to support women’s football with this small donation,” Kaltabang says.
“To be honest, we didn’t hear much about women’s football in the past but today we hear about ladies kicking the ball every Saturday at Amicale and Lycee fields.
“This is just the beginning and if everything goes well next year we will continue to support the development of women’s football in Port Vila. We are committed to providing our ladies with the resources that they need.”
Port Vila Women’s Football treasurer Josina Malep thanked the PVFA and the president for the generous donation.
“Your gift to women’s football is not a small donation and will have a profound impact on our girls by allowing them to play more quality football as well as providing access to the best training in their clubs,” Malep says.
“The investment will help greatly in preparing our girls for competitions in Vanuatu and Oceania.”
